Top 50 sites to add to your ping list - Quick Tip
I should mention that these are in no specific order but rather a random list of the current Top 50 ping sites I currently submit my posts to on a daily basis. The list as a whole seems to work well for me thus far and should I remove or add anything to this in the near future I will let you know.
Pinging to me, is a very important tool in driving traffic to your blog. The many social sites serve as another avenue for finding people interested in your topics. As I have said many times, any opportunity to pick up one more reader should not be overlooked, and to this day I still believe in every word of it. Make use of everything the internet has to offer, and you will stand a better chance of soaring past the competition.
Setting your WordPress blog up to ping these sites automatically.
Again, this is another task WordPress has made easy for us to complete. To configure WordPress with automatic ping, open up your wp-admin click on options and then writing. If you scroll all of the way down to the bottom of the page you will see a text box that says “Update Services”, now simply copy listings in my top 50 ping list and paste them into the box, now click update options and your WordPress blog is ready to ping.

Holy bajesus. What a list.
Do you get traffic by pinging all these?
July 20th, 2007 at 5:10 pm
I ping a lot of sites, but I can’t say that I ever get traffic from them. Why do you think that is?

I never do either, but I think you can get incoming links that way. Sometimes I’ll see a post of mine linked at Technorati or Newsgator, so it definitely helps.

Fred,
The first thing you should do is look into your configuration and make sure your site is pinging as it should. Maybe set up an account with Technorati.com, claim your blog and see if it is updating when you publish new articles. If all of that seems ok you may look into the titles you are using. Make sure you are including your specific keywords within the titles so you can be found in the search results. Finally it may just take time as your popularity often does hold relevance to your blog.
Thanks,
Patric

Social sites are very helpful for building traffic and pinging is such a great tool. If for nothing else your links often get treated as reciprocal links and show up in Google results and others. But as I always say, “take advantage of every opportunity at your fingertips” some may work and some may not, but you won’t be out anything for trying.
