Sensible Posting - Writing for the Future
Intro - - Welcome, this is part two of the multi-part series The Bloggers Guide to Time Saving Techniques. This series covers the ever important topic of time management and how it directly relates to your success as a blogger. I will be covering some key issues many bloggers, myself included, have battled with in the past and how you can overcome them with a few simple tricks to managing your time more efficiently.
Posting or writing is without a doubt the single most important role of any blogger, its your job description. Unfortunately, it is also tends to be the most time consuming and because of this many bloggers’ articles often suffer or fall second place to marketing, designing, responding and several other daily tasks. Regardless of your schedule, your writing can’ t suffer. Articles are the foundation of every blog, they are what draw in your readers and build your popularity, pushing these to second or even third place is essentially committing blogicide. Just don’t do it!
But what if you can keep the great content rolling and manage to save time doing it? Do you know that many people are completely unfamiliar with the TimeStamp feature in WordPress. Are you one of them?

With the TimeStamp feature you have the ability to set a new post to publish a day, week or month into the future, whatever you want. If used properly this can be a huge time saver for publishing your posts. Rather than spending seven days a week writing an article, you could potentially spend one day a week writing seven articles and then set them to publish each day of the week, essentially freeing up six days for other important activities. This of course does not include the occasional breaking news story, but I am sure with all of the free time you just gaine, you could spend an evening writing that.

Now, I know some of you enjoy writing daily so the last thought may not be of interest to you. If this is the case, maybe you should pick one day of the week to write say three articles. Publish one article for the day and save the others as drafts. Why? Backups, lets say you wrote and saved two extra articles on Saturday, Wednesday you found some great brewing pot of ideas you are dying to research. Instead of falling behind, or not publishing an article or even writing a non thought out poorly written masterpiece, you can a couple of minutes, open up your admin panel select a pre-written article and hit publish, your done. So in less than two minutes you have managed to entertain your readers, keep your blog rolling and get back to your research, now thats good time management.

Mix em’ up. What if you spent two days a week writing five articles a day? You would then be publishing one article a day with three extras per week. In less than a month you would have enough extra articles to fill an entire week which in turn means you can take vacation, work on setting up a new blog or marketing, advertising and such. Thats sounds good to me!
